'...performing onstage is really exciting, when you know you can play guitar.
These lessons gave me that freedom...'
TOM IVEY - Blues/Rock Guitarist and former student
Simon Tittley is a guitarist & bassist, singer/songwriter, record producer and guitar & bass teacher. He was obsessed with the guitar from the age of eleven and has since developed a life-long appreciation of rock, blues, jazz and fusion music.
While at drama school in the 1970's Simon was encouraged by Wrecking Crew guitarist BARNEY KESSEL to learn to read guitar and to study music theory. This lead to him having lessons with BBC session guitarist ALAN SHUTTLEWORTH at Birmingham Guitar School, where he later became vice-principal.
He first tasted success in the music industry in 1984, working as a producer and songwriter for WEA International. Based in Bangkok, Thailand, he produced three critically aclaimed albums with top Thai artists.
He was signed to US indie label Apeiron Records in 1991, releasing 'Broken Heart & Shattered Dreams' in late 1993. In 1994 Simon returned to the UK, writing and producing corporate soundtracks for Sony, Mercury Communications and Dixons.
Simon has played close to 1,000 live dates during his long career, including gigs in Europe, Asia and the USA. He has appeared on radio and television. He was the resident guitarist and bass player for 6 years during the pantomime season at the Courtyard Theatre in Hereford, performing there in nearly 400 live shows with Music Director RAB HANDLEIGH.
In 2015 Simon was encouraged by jazz fusion guitarist LARRY CORYELL to return to playing live music. He currently sings and plays guitar with blues rock band the Psychedelic Hearts Club. The band features Beatles' songs from the Sergent Pepper's Heart's Club era (the inspiration for the band's name), psychedelic rock and electric blues. The band have performed in UK, France & Spain.
